Hugh Simpson

Hugh began his career as a Post Newsweek TV Group investigative reporter in the late 1960s covering Civil Rights, consumerism and doing undercover work as related to illegal drugs.

He returned to FSU graduating in 1972 and then attended University of Illinois receiving a MS in Advertising & Public Relations.

He pursued PR and spent over 40 years working with clients like the Original Marlboro Man, DragonCon, ultra marathoner Stan Cottrell, award winning kitchen designer Maggie Hughes, author Robert Taylor of Paradigm, etc.

While in Atlanta he attended a workshop presented by Marshall Thurber, who had been the right-hand man to the legendary futurist Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller, who brought to the world’s attention the geodesic dome.

Hugh became fascinated with domes and in 2010 went to North Carolina to learn to build the dodecahedron dome leading to his creating Raptor Domes Kits ™ as seen below.

His focus on these domes has led to pursuing other alternatives in the tiny home building arena. Currently he experimenting with wood pallets as modular walls.

In addition, Hugh was involved with German architect Helmut Ziehe, founder of the Institute of Baubilogie, as his Marketing Director. Ziehe brought Baubilogie to the USA to deal with Sick Building Syndrome caused by the use of toxic building materials. Baubilogie considers that your living environment is like human skin and must be able to “breathe”. One of the students that took the Baubilogie workshops along with numerous American architects and builders, David Pearson wrote the best selling classic The New Natural House Book.

Hugh is the author of Dome Living in the 21st Century and Domes!Domes!Domes! both exclusively at Amazon.
